Population
The population of Brazil is 202,656,788 as of Jul 2014
(CIA World Factbook) and is 63.5% that of the US population, 318,860,032. It is the sixth most populated country in the world according to the
CIA World Factbook. People primarily live in the Southeast and Northeast portions of the territory. An interesting fact from
Wikipedia says that "the Center-West and the North, which together make up 64.12% of the
Brazilian territory, have a total of only 29.1 million inhabitants." The map below also illustrates population centers around cities. Brasilia has a population of 2,289,761 (
Wikipedia), slightly higher than indicated on this map. To the south, Porto Alegre has a population of 1,509,939
(Wikipedia).
Agriculture
Brazil is one of the world's largest exporters of food. They grow coffee, soybeans, wheat, rice, corn, sugarcane, cocoa, citrus; and beef (
CIA World Factbook). I learned that Brazil is the world's largest exporter of orange juice. Take a look in this chart.
Industry and Tourism
Manufacturing and Services tend to be around population centers in the south east and eastern portions of the territory. Brazil is the most traveled to country in South America. Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are the two most visited places in Brazil (
brazil.org). The countries rich natural beauty, including the Amazon and Amazon river are also top travel destinations. Thus, tourism is certainly impacted by climate.
Cultural Activities
Brazil brings to the world carnival. It is in every corner of the country that takes place in February/March each year. This is a celebration with Portuguese roots but completely reinvented by the unique diversity of peoples living in Brazil (
